Football Week 1 Q&A: Tate Hallock
Senior Tate Hallock returns for his second full season on the varsity football team after being a key component to the 12-1 season FHC had last year. Tate will be a big-time player once again this year on both sides of the ball in the wide receiver and defensive back positions. He has been nominated for the Michigan Mr. Football Award, as well as committing to play at Michigan State University next fall.
What did you lose in the graduating class versus what you have gained in the junior class this year?
“We lost leadership, but we actually didn’t lose a lot; we really loaded back up with this junior class.”
What do you hope to achieve this year?
“Team wise, we definitely want to win a State Championship and to go undefeated in the regular season. Personally, I’d like to get better as a player and leader.”
How will your role change this year as a senior on the team?
“It might change a little because I have to be more of a leader, but I don’t think I have to change that much.”
What have you and the team done in the offseason to improve?
“We have worked very hard; knowing that we were so close last year and were beaten in the playoffs is a big motivator for us.”
What will be key to having another successful season this year?
“Having depth and being disciplined; we really just need to hold each other accountable.”
