Both cross country teams secure second place at OK White Jamboree #1
The FHC varsity cross country teams had high hopes going into their 2018-2019 season. With three guys from FHC finishing in the top six, and four girls from FHC finishing in the top fifteen, both the FHC teams earned second place out of seven at the OK White Jamboree Race #1 yesterday.
For the guys team, senior Geoffrey Batterbee secured second place with a time of 17:58 for his 3.1-mile run. Along with Geoffrey, junior Gabe Carlson finished fifth, and his race time came in at 18:40. The last guy from FHC to finish in the top six was freshman Sam Jaeger. Sam stepped up in his debut on the varsity cross country team and took sixth place with a racing time of 18:52.
The FHC girls varsity cross country team not only placed second, but they also beat out rival Forest Hills Northern. The four girls for FHC that finished in the top fifteen were: junior Susannah Bennett, sophomore Whitney Currie, junior Nicole Marco, and senior Courtney McAlindon. Susannah finished fifteenth for the Rangers with a race time of 23:01. Next was Courtney who finished the race in eleventh place; she finished with a time of 22:25. Whitney was the next one to place, she finished her race in eighth place, and was able to complete the brutal 3.1 miles with a time of 21:56. Finally, taking the top spot for the Rangers was Nicole. Nicole finished her race with a time of 21:37 and secured fifth place out of the 118 other runners.
The FHC varsity Cross Country teams are set to race again on Friday, September 14 at the Michigan State University Invitational.
