JV field hockey falls to Mercy High 2-0

This past Saturday, JV field hockey took on the ladies of  Mercy High at home. Trying to come back from a rough start on the season FH came looking for their second win but after a tough match, they lost by a score of 2-0.

Both FH and Mercy came out to play, putting up tough fights on both defense and offense.  A couple of standout players this season and in this game for FH were junior Megan Raisch and freshman Sophie Hartl. The defense pulled through on the FH side, allowing for the ball to remain mostly on the opposing side other than a few slip-ups which Mercy made sure to capitalize on by scoring two goals. The first goal Mercy got through came during the first half and the second point followed in the second half. Although goals were few in number, these two were all Mercy needed to bring home the win. The FH offense overall played strong but couldn’t get through Mercy’s defense, leaving them scoreless.

With this loss, the team’s record is set at 1-4 with one tie under its belt. The girls head into their next game looking for their second win this upcoming Thursday against the Pioneers of Ann Arbor.
