Boys varsity tennis places 5th in GPN Tournament
On Saturday, the boys varsity tennis team placed 5th in the Gross Pointe North Tournament. The Rangers had a hard time coming up with enough points to claim first place in the tournament because FHC was divided into three different facilities: one high school and two parks.
Two doubles junior Ali Azeem and freshman Cully Herbert placed second individually. They won every game they played until the finals, where they ended up losing to Seahomes. Sophomore Chris Battiste and junior Advith Reddy, who are one doubles, placed third individually. They lost their first game to the University of Detroit Jesuit, then beat both Seventon and Holly 6-1 and 6-0. The Rangers’ matches were all very close games, they just had a hard time finishing in the third set.
The Rangers had a tough time supporting each other because not all of them were at the same facility. This tournament does not go towards the Rangers’ record, so their record remains 0-1. Their next match will be against Northview on Tuesday.
