Varsity B wrestling has successful weekend as a team and individually
The varsity B wrestling team went to Ottawa Hills on Friday to wrestle in a tri-meet; the following day it traveled to East Kentwood to compete in the Kentwood JV Wrestling Invite. The team beat the Huskies of Forest Hills Northern on Friday 24-12 and had many individuals place in the invitational on Saturday. The victory on Friday added another win to FHC’s undefeated record. On Saturday, the Rangers were one of 16 teams that competed in the invitational, where wrestlers were placed in groups of five for Round Robin action.
Wrestling in the 140 Ibs weight class, freshman Evan Elzinga was the only undefeated wrestler for the Rangers on Saturday, but he wasn’t the only one to place first in a group. Freshman Will Richardson only lost once en route to his first-place finish in the 285 Ibs weight class. Sophomore Cam Roth at the 145 Ibs also lost just once and came away with second place. Other individuals to place were junior Cole Kaminski and sophomore Mason Myers.
The Rangers’ momentum and confidence on the year is at a high point following back-to-back successful days. The varsity B team is now 2-0 on the season with a dual coming up against Greenville on Friday.
