“I tore my ACL and my meniscus [by] playing basketball before the season started [at] a team scrimmage, but I am [now the manager of] the varsity basketball team.
I have been going to practices and games the entire season. I’m happy to cheer on my team, but you know, it sucks not being able to play. [I miss] the intensity of the game. [That moment when] it’s close, and it’s the last minute–the rush of it, and I’m channeling my energy into cheering on the team. They have my number out on the basketball things outside, and they have my picture up on the wall. I still feel [like] a part of the team.”
