Baseball completes the sweep over Northview with 5-0 win
Sophomore Joey Wise had a career night to lead the varsity baseball team to a 5-0 win over Northview for the series sweep. Joey went 2-3 with a walk, scored 1 run, and stole 2 bases on the offensive side, as well as pitching a shutout with 4 hits, 6 strikeouts, and 0 walks.
FHC put up 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning for an early lead. The scoring started when senior Joe Szczepanek singled on a full count for an RBI. Joe and Joey led the team with 2 hits apiece on the night, while Joey and senior Adam Tellier led the team in stolen bags on the basepath with 2 each.
Joe then singled in the fourth inning to drive in Adam for another run and bring the score to 5-0. The Ranger defense committed just 1 error on the night, while FHC outhit the Wildcats 7-4.
FHC moves to an even 3-3 (3-1) on the year, and the boys have a quick turnaround after last night’s dominant performance. The Rangers will be back in action today at the EGR Round Robin and will then host Cedar Springs on Monday for a conference doubleheader.
