Girls JV field hockey overwhelms Saline 2-0
The girls JV field hockey team took on Saline this past Saturday. In this match, the two JV teams—white and purple—merged together and played as one team. A common theme was relived as the defense of the combined team acted as a brick wall and very rarely let Saline into the attacking half of the field, stomping them out whenever they found a chance.
The game started out slow for the team on offense, but after halftime, they finally found their groove and scored both of their goals in the second half. The initial goal was scored by freshman Isabelle Osborn from Rockford, and with only a few minutes left in the game, sophomore Eileen Grunwald from FHE capped off the scoring for the girls.
This is the first game played with the combined white and purple squads, and it was a defensive masterpiece that ended in a win. The next game this team will play together will be against East Grand Rapids on the road on September 17th. If the team’s defense can keep its defense as strong as in this game, it should be a positive outcome for the girls.
