Girls JV field hockey wins defensive battle 1-0 against East Grand Rapids
The girls JV field hockey team traveled to East Grand Rapids and emerged victorious against the Pioneers in its last game. In an arduous match, the girls prevailed and won the game by a score of 1-0. As the team’s defensive dominance persisted through this fight, the production from its offense has improved quite significantly; this coming as a result of the combination of the two JV teams.
FHN freshman Raven Kincaid scored the lone goal that drove the team to its win. A stellar defensive performance from junior goalie Eliana McGlinchey from FHN kept the Pioneers from getting on the scoreboard, and an all-around team effort escalated the team’s passing and defense. In 2 matches as one whole team, the JV girls have had 3 scorers, exercising the importance of their teamwork and setting up opportunities for everyone to score.
The team’s defense is its defining attribute and with an ever-advancing offense, it will be favored in its next match. The girls will be at home for their next match when Ann Arbor Pioneer comes to town. This encounter will be on September 19th and the team will look towards its 3rd win as a combined squad.
