How did you get into field hockey?
“My older sister started playing field hockey during her freshman year of high school, and the sport looked really interesting. I began playing in seventh grade for the middle school program.”
How long have you been playing field hockey?
“This is my fourth year of field hockey.”
What do you do to prepare for a game?
“Not many schools near FHC have field hockey teams, so we’re usually traveling for most of our games. I like to catch up on sleep on the way to Ann Arbor and Detroit to prepare for playing.”
What position do you play?
“This season I started playing defensive midfield. I really like playing here because I get a taste of every position on the field. As captain of the team, it’s a great perspective to have to be able to lead my teammates.”
What do you think more people should know about field hockey?
“I think more people should know that field hockey exists. Anyone is welcome to play on our team, including people from different schools. There’s nothing specific about it that makes it stand out, but the combination of tricky rules and challenging technique makes it a very fun sport.”
