FHC Cross Country teams take fourth and fifth place at Regionals
This weekend, the FHC Cross Country teams competed at Regionals against 13 different teams. The girls team finished in fourth place and the boys team finished in fifth place. Saturday’s temperature was cool and crisp, perfect for running. They were able to beat the rain, so the course was nice and dry for the runners.
For the girls team, junior Whitney Currie finished in fifth place out of 91 runners with a time of 18:14.28. Behind Whitney was senior Nicole Marco, coming in with a time of 19:08.38. Then, the third-best runner for the Rangers was junior Emma Hansen, finishing with a time of 19:50.77.
For the boys team, senior Gabe Carlson finished in eighth place of 91 runners with a time of 16:01.41. Trailing behind Gabe was sophomore Sam Yeager, coming in with a time of 16:17.12. Finishing only 12 seconds behind Sam was junior Kyle James-Heer with a time of 16:29.65.
The teams were very excited for this race. They wanted to show how hard they have worked this whole season and to give it their all on their last race. As a result of their great times and hard work, there are three runners that have qualified for states: Gabe Carlson, Whitney Currie, and Nicole Marco.
The State Finals race will occur on Saturday, November 2nd at Michigan Internation Speedway. The time for the race is still undecided.
