Forest Hills Defeats East Grand Rapids in Dominant Fashion
Sophomore Rain Tarango received the pass from Molly Fanning, and poked the ball into the goal to give Forest Hills the first, and only goal of the game.
Forest Hills Unified JV Field Hockey team took the field against the Pioneers of East Grand Rapids on Wednesday night. Although the outcome ended in a Forest Hills win, the score line did the play of Forest Hills little justice. The unified team managed to out do the Pioneers in nearly every aspect of the game.
“We got out to a quick start,” coach Mark Millar said. “The girls got after it, and really gelled as a team today.”
Forest Hills had more possession and more shots on target in their dominant performance. East Grand Rapids had trouble getting things going on offense, as they only crossed into their opponent’s half of the field seven times through the entirety of the game.
“It was a good team effort,” sophomore Isabella Piccione said. “We communicated well and worked with each other from the start.”
Moving on to their next opponent, the University Liggett Knights, sophomore Alivia Homant has some insight.
“The competitions only going to get harder from here on out,” Alivia said. “As a team, we need to get more aggressive and get some of the basics tightened up.”
Controlling the game from the get-go, Forest Hills Unified was able to seal the 1-0 victory in promising fashion.
“Our team played really well today,” Alivia said. “It’s still early in the season, so I’m excited to see what else were able to accomplish.”
