Wind Waves & Wheels: Skate and Snow Gear for Everyone
On 29th Street lies Wind Waves & Wheels, a small boardsport shop that supports local snow and skateboarding events and spreads their love for these hobbies. The employees themselves are passionate about snowboarding and skateboarding, and seek to help people get into these hobbies and encourage and support veterans. Walking in, W3 displays an array of boardsport apparel and a plethora of skateboards and snowboards for your choosing. The store is small, but laid out well and it is easy to find what you need. They have everything displayed for you, and encourage you to ride a board around or see how it feels.
I visit there often, and every time I’m there I find myself trying out all sorts of skateboards and longboards, and though I haven’t looked around the snowboarding section as much, the small store is packed with most anything a snowboarder could ever need. With products from companies like Burton (a big partner with W3) the small store can provide anything for anybody. They also carry longboards and skateboards made by companies such as Arbor, Antihero, Sector 9, and much more.
For anyone looking to get started in snowboarding or skateboarding, whoever is working will always be very helpful and knowledgeable, and will gladly assist anyone with questions or who is in need of help. They have a great selection of longboard and skateboard necessities, such as wheels, bearings, hardware, griptape, and more. There is a wide selection of helmets and pads to choose from, and employees will gladly let you find the best fit for you. One thing to look out for, however, is that their inventory can change very quickly. If you have your heart set on a new set of wheels, they might be gone within a day or two… or could stay for weeks.
W3 is a small business, but they support local boardsport events and are passionate about what they sell. The employees are laid back, and I’ve personally had the owner treat me like a friend, not a customer. Most every purchase gets you a handful of stickers or a small freebie, and it’s nice knowing that every purchase supports a business that truly loves what they sell.
With a simple, organized store layout, helpful and passionate employees, and a business that supports boardsports locally, Wind Waves & Wheels provides a great selection of gear for the absolute beginner, the experienced veteran, and anyone in between.
