1,000 point Q&A with Jimmy Scholler
Congratulations to senior Jimmy Scholler on scoring 1,000 career points; he became the fourth player in Rangerball history to reach this milestone when the boys varsity basketball team won over Grandville. To honor his impressive accomplishment, we asked Jimmy some questions about his journey up to this point.
What does it mean to you to get to 1,000 points?
“It means a lot as I have worked so hard to get to that milestone. It is a major accomplishment in high school basketball.”
When did you first start to think about hitting this milestone?
“I started really thinking about it after my sophomore season after I got a copy of the record book.”
You were pulled up to varsity as a sophomore. What was that experience like, and how did it prepare you for being a team leader this year and last?
“Playing on varsity really helped as I learned how to be a leader from all the upperclassmen that played on that team.”
How familiar are you with the history of Rangerball and some of the names on that top-scoring list?
“Very familiar; I played for coach [James] Tellman, who has 1,099 points.”
How do you want to be remembered after your career is over as a Rangerballer?
“I want to be remembered as a great leader, a positive person, and someone who always played hard.”
What has it meant to you to play alongside your friend Mitch Wilkinson for the past three years?
“It is great, Mitchell and I have been great friends since second grade. We have spent hours in the gym together, so it’s awesome to watch it pan out.”
Describe the moment when you officially hit the 1,000 mark.
“All I could do is smile, it will definitely be a moment I remember forever.”
