Comfort is something we are all in need of right now whether it is comfort food, comfort from your family, or finding comfort in a really good tv show. Life is insane, and no matter who you are, I am sure you have felt the craziness one way or another. Sometimes we need to sit in our beds and watch a cheesy carefree tv show, letting our worries unwind. 

I truly adore watching tv; it has always provided me with a sense of relief. Watching the characters’ mediocre problems disappear within just one episode gives me hope that maybe one day my problems will fade just the same. 

In this sense, it gives me misplaced hope when a new show comes onto Netflix; I believe it will be my next great escape. Sometimes I am not so lucky, and the show I have chosen from the wide selection Netflix does offer is just an empty noise in the background. However, in this case, I was thrilled. My expectations had been met and, in a matter of minutes, I drifted off into a new world, leaving my problems behind. 

As I have previously stated, I have watched many Netflix shows in my time. Each show is very different from the last, and some are better than others. However, I find something entertaining about them every time. 

A few years ago, I discovered the show Good Witch. It was four seasons at the time, and I blew through them in a matter of a couple of months. After a stressful day of school, it became my favorite thing to watch with an equally comforting snack. 

The show stars actress Catherine Bell as Cassie Nightingale. She lost her husband many years ago but still manages to present a happy, peaceful, and almost magical personality. She owns her own store where all the townspeople come in and talk with her. She proceeds to give them mysterious advice that I always try to apply to my own life. 

The show continues on with that plot episode after episode, with a few twists here and there, but I never get the sense that the show is boring more than it is dependable. That is why I was so elated that season five came out during quarantine; I need something dependable in my life now more than ever. 

The premise of the show may appear quite simple, and it’s true. Season five is no exception. However, this does not make the show any less compelling. In fact, it usually tends to be the light-hearted aspect that draws me back to it. 

In season five, Casey has found a new love. You get to see their beautiful outdoor wedding with some of the prettiest scenery to make you smile. From there, the show continued on with a mystical air about it, never failing to bring me back to simpler times. 

If you, like so many others, are in need of comfort during such uncertain times, Good Witch will be a perfect, easy, and beautiful distraction.
