The girls varsity golf team teed off at Kent Country Club yesterday in a jamboree hosted by East Grand Rapids. The Rangers placed fifth in the event with a score of 190. Senior Maddie Knoor and freshman Skyler Tierney finished the day with a score of 44, and the weather was not in favor of the golfers yesterday.
“I thought that the match went well yesterday, besides the weather,” junior Bella Wisely said.
Fall golf can be very difficult when the seasons start to change. Temperatures start to drop and leaves start to fall, making it tough to see the golf ball. Players must adapt to these circumstances and find a way to thrive in them.
The Rangers have a couple of big events in the near future that are critical to determining the rest of the season.
When asked how his team was going to prepare, head coach Paul TenEyck said, “We will be working on chipping and putting to sharpen our short games for the upcoming tournaments.”
The Rangers will travel to Muskegon Country Club for their next jamboree on Tuesday.
“I’m excited to see how the girls can finish out the season,” said Teneyck.
