FHC Swim and Dive team wins the Battle of the Hills with a score of 109-77
Freshman Olivia Oorbeck led the girls FHC Swim and Dive team in the Battle of the Hills meet against the Forest Hills Northern and Eastern team. The Rangers won by a large margin of 109-77 with Olivia at the head of the pack, taking first in multiple events.
Olivia had a great meet; she took first place in the 200-yard Individual Medley, 100-yard Butterfly, 200-yard Medley Relay, and second place in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. Sophomore Sydney VanLente also did well, taking first place in the 100-yard Freestyle, following that up with second-place finishes in the 100-yard Backstroke and 400-yard Freestyle Relay. Junior Jessica Doyel also had an impressive performance; she took first place in the 200-yard Freestyle, 200 and 400-yard Freestyle Relays, and third place in the 100-yard Butterfly.
Another state cut time was surpassed by an FHC relay team consisting of seniors Emily Johnson and Ellie Field and juniors Maggie Hier and Jessica. The girls raced in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, winning the event with a time of 1:44.04.
The three top divers were sophomores Olivia Thornely, Payton Dailey, and Noelle Stewart. Olivia took fourth place with a score of 185.20, Payton took fifth place with a score of 171.75, and Noelle took sixth place with a score of 170.40. With these scores, each of the girls also got their personal bests for the season so far. Noelle has been doing exceptionally well for it being her first year on the FHC team, helping the Rangers up their score.
The girls are now 2-0 in the conference standings. Next up for the Rangers is their meet next Tuesday, October 13th against Grand Rapids Christian. The meet will take place at 6:00 PM at Calvin College.
