With a last second three, FHC cut a four point lead down to one. FHE then dribbled out the remaining 1.2 seconds after they got the inbound pass in and held on to another victory. After a very closely contested game, FHE went on a late run to swing a six point advantage their way. FHC battled back as they had all game, but they eventually fell 41-42.

“The two games before this, we would go down by nine or so and cave,” head coach Kristina Prins said. “Now we’re trying to change our mindset. We need to think that no matter the score we are still in the game.”

For Prins’ team, it’s all about their mindset. Her team got down easily in the two games previously and were not able to bounce back. That led to two big losses. Friday night was different. Although the outcome was a loss, she was very pleased with the character that her team showed.

“We talked about playing our game and creating the pace,” Prins said. “Our girls fought hard and really came together.”

In the first half, the Rangers were consistently behind. They fought hard to battle back, but things weren’t going their way. Suddenly, junior Madi Winter was struck in the face and went down hard. This was hard for the Rangers to deal with, as they needed another player to step up. That player was Maddy Smith.

“Madi [Winter] went down and Maddy [Smith] stepped up,” Prins said. “Although [she] didn’t score tonight, she was a remarkable spark for us. She had numerous steals and made some big plays.”

Although FHC has lost their last two, the lady Ranger program is looking to bounce back. Prins has faith that her team will be on top soon.

“Our goal is to improve everyday,” Prins said. “Our goal is to win conference and our season will definitely prepare us for that.”
