A Perfect Pairing was more than romance
“I would rather sell margaritas in a can, at a suburban 7-Eleven, than work another minute for you,” – Lola (Victoria Justice).
That is my favorite line from A Perfect Pairing, a new Netflix movie that recently came out in May. Featuring Victoria Justice, the plot sits around the main character Lola as she juggles her new business ideas and an unexpected love interest. Crossing between Wine Vineyard companies, Lola tries another stab at building her own.
Sitting next to the blazing heat of my fireplace, I watched without making a single sound. There wasn’t a lot of emotion for me, nor was it a horror movie, but I did enjoy the animal life and nature dynamic the film had.
Taking place on a farm as a watcher, I was drawn to the movie by its animal scenes and how Lola bonded with them. While she was earning her way to pitch her own business, she certainly showed how outgoing it can be to immerse yourself into a new lifestyle.
As the movie progressed, I felt as if Lola wasn’t just trying to win over a successful businesswoman’s heart, but she was finding her true self as she met new friends that would soon come to like her as a person.
I was able to connect to the movie, as the whole plot of the film encouraged me to put myself in situations where I can learn to adapt and experience new things. Making new friends and overcoming fears is a big leap for some, but even the smallest things such as watching a movie can give a tiny nudge to do so.
The morality of the movie is to take what hurts the most and get back up again and make something new out of it. Lola shows just that in this movie; she fills herself up with a new positive look on her situation. She encapsulates the natures of love and business to their fullest. When reaching for your limits start to feel more like falling from a cliff, Lola brought herself back and found that happiness doesn’t only have to lay in her office, but it can be within the circle of people that surround her.
From watching this movie, I learned that not everything has to be perfect; there is always room to improve yourself as a person and as a hard worker. Sometimes, facing struggles head-on or making spontaneous decisions can benefit you in the long run. If you watch The Perfect Pairing, you’ll understand how Lola handles her obstacles–she isn’t a pushover, nor does she let others boss her around.
