Winterfest Court Interviews

In honor of the 2017 Winterfest Court being selected, The Central Trend decided to interview them in celebration of the week.

Caitlyn Murphy

How do you feel about being chosen for Court?

“I was surprised because I didn’t know we weren’t doing an assembly, and then I was just really happy. I guess it just makes you feel good that people ‘chose”‘you.”

What is your favorite part about Winterfest week?

“The lip syncs. The Court has to make lip syncs, and I’m really excited to see them and they’re really fun to make so hopefully they’re really funny.”

What are you most looking forwards to this week?

?Probably the dance because you get to be with your friends, and it’s really exciting to just dress up with them, take pictures, and go to dinner.”

What’s your favorite spirit day?

“Pajama day, for sure.”

How is your lip sync going? How do you feel about performing it?

“It’s pretty good. We are doing Backstreet Boys versus Spice Girls. I’m really excited [to perform it]. It’s kind of unusual because I’m normally super nervous for that stuff, but I’m more excited to go for it.”

Mitchel Banks

How do you feel about being chosen for Winterfest court?

“Surprised, definitely, was the first reaction. It was really awesome to think that everyone would nominate me and that my even my own classmates voted for me.”

What is your favorite part of Winterfest week?

“Probably either the assembly or the spirit days. I feel like the assembly is kind of fun because everyone comes together in individual classes and you feel like a team or a family, and it’s a cool feeling in the air.”

What are you most looking forward to this week?

“Definitely the assemblies and the lip dubs because I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. I think a lot of the nominees are going to have an awesome time and they’re going to have some awesome songs.”

What’s you favorite spirit day?

?Probably Pajama Day because you wake up and you’re like, “You know, I’m just going to take a shower, get right back in my pajamas and go to school,” and it’s pretty cool.”

How is your lip synch going? How do you feel about performing it?

My lip sync is going slow and we’re still undecided on what we’re doing, but we’re going to bring some fire, and everybody is going to see it Friday. [Performing it] doesn’t bother me at all. I have no sense of stage fright; I’m going to go up there, I’m going to make a goof of myself, and if people laugh, then they laugh.”

Tommy Barfuss

How do you feel about being chosen for Winterfest court?

“It’s definitely a weird feeling. When you’re a senior, it’s weird to actually be on court, and have your friends be on court, because all other three years of high school you just see all these older people on court, so it’s kind of a weird realization to be on it yourself.”

What is your favorite part of Winterfest week?

“I really like the snow sculptures.”

What are you most looking forward to this week?

“The dance is always fun, and the lip syncs on Friday are going to be really fun.”

How do you feel about performing your lip sync?

“I’m excited; performing doesn’t phase me. I’m not too worried about it, and it should be fun.”

Abby Deweerd

“Pajama day.”

How is your lip synch going? How do you feel about performing it?

“Probably Winterfest. I’m really excited for that. It’s always fun to get out and hang out with people; it’s just a fun event, and everyone is having a great time.”

Favorite spirit day?

“So far, probably going to be flannel day or pajama day, just because pajamas are comfortable, and flannels are also comfortable.”

How is your lip synch going? How do you feel about performing it?

“It’s coming along very well, actually. I just finished up the music that we’re using for it, so that will be fun. [As for performing], I did “Tight Pants” for the talent show, so I’m kind of used to dancing around like an idiot for the entertainment of my peers, so I’m not too stressed about it.”
