2017 Student Council Q&A – Ben Finkelstein

“Better school, better community, Ben Finkelstein.”

Name: Ben Finkelstein

Grade: Junior

1.) Why did you decide to run for President?

“It’s time for a change. The Class of 2018 is more diversified than ever, and it will be my goal to unify our class so that we can form relationships and memories that will last a lifetime. My competition, who has been a phenomenal president for the past three years, has fully shown us her potential. Many great things have come from her presidency, but the time has come for someone else to take the reins. Frankly, I see more in our class, and I will strive for a better, more successful future for our senior year and the years that will follow.”

2.) What do you hope to accomplish if elected?

“Win, Win, Win. That will be my first policy to instate. Winning brings honor and respect to our class, and I know my team and I will be able to pull out some dubs. It will be my priority to integrate school pride into the new Ada in order to build a stronger, more unified community.”
3.) If you could push for one change at FHC, what would it be?
“I will definitely be pushing for some more Ranger Days so that we can all come together. I want to create some synergy within our school. (As a side note: reinstating tater tots will be a high priority.)”
4.) What extra-curricular activities are you involved in?
“Next year I will be captain of both the ski team and crew team. I am also very emotionally involved in DECA and will continue to pursue the tradition of excellence at FHC. Also, next year I will be joining Model UN because MUN is FUN.”
5.) What traits do you think successful leaders possess?
“Open-mindedess, along with the four C’s:
  • Communication
  • Confidence
  • Commitment
  • Creativity”
6.) Anything else you would say to potential voters?
“This is a democracy. Let’s treat it like one.”
