The importance of passion and how it keeps me going
Coming home after a long day at work or school is almost always a great feeling. You’re finally done for the day, and you can look forward to relaxing however you see fit. Having this to look forward to is comforting, and it’s especially great if this time allows for the pursuit of a hobby or passion.
As my friends surely know, I tend to hop from hobby to hobby nearly every other month; I’m always looking for something fresh, new, and fun. I rarely settle for something that I don’t wholeheartedly enjoy, and I’ll usually fall in love with anything expressive and creative that I can get into relatively easily. I need a constant passion and motivation, and without it, I find myself bored constantly.
Without having anything to keep you going, life is dull and monotonous. Having these hobbies and passions gives motivation and inspires creative thinking. Nobody wants to live a life where they’re just going through the motions. That’s like being offered a platter full of food and choosing not to eat it; you’re missing out on the substance and opting to just wait for the end of the meal.
The feeling of being inspired and motivated is something that everybody should feel in their life, whether it comes through getting good grades or pursuing a creative outlet. Picking up a hobby and finding something that you fall in love with can be just the thing a student needs to get through the school year, or what gives someone the motivation to push through a hard day of work. It’s that thing to look forward to, that thing that flies around in your thoughts when you’re bored, and so much more.
For me, photography has always been a way to escape from the struggles of homework, work, and whatever else is going on in my life. It’s a creative outlet that I can use to meet new people and cement my friendships. I’ve been able to meet new people and have so many new opportunities because of it.
A life without passion is nearly lifeless– everybody needs something. Whether it’s what someone’s life revolves around, or a hobby that nobody else knows about, passion is the heart that keeps people going. It’s a creative outlet and offers freedom for people to be themselves. Passion is a part of life that everybody deserves, and it can serve as inspiration, motivation, and much more.
