The Choo Choo Grill is a hidden gem you don’t want to miss

The small, red building hidden on Plainfield Avenue along the train tracks sits full of hungry customers. The Choo Choo Grill is a diner that features home-cooked hospitality and the best burgers and shakes you’ll ever have.

The Choo Choo Grill isn’t your average diner; it has its own unique theme and quirks.

You’ll probably notice that the staff knows a lot of the customers because the Choo Choo Grill has many regulars. Since the building is so small, while you’re sitting at the counter, you may be very close to someone you don’t know. They’ll probably talk to you– embrace the friendly environment and you never know what you’ll learn.

The Choo Choo Grill has been around for a long time. Throughout its years, it has collected quite an abundance of train-themed memorabilia, giving the restaurant its own flair. The seat cushions, once bright red, are now worn and covered in duct tape due to their extreme use over the years. The owners say they probably won’t ever change the booths, only because they don’t want to change the history of the Choo Choo Grill unless it is essential. The Choo Choo Grill has become iconic in many ways, and the four people that run it don’t plan on changing it anytime soon.

For as long as I can remember, there have only ever been four people who work there, and they sure do get the job done. As soon as you are seated, your order is taken. Not even ten minutes later, your food is right in front of you, perfect for a quick lunch.

People go to the Choo Choo Grill for one reason, and that’s the food. The menu consists of classic diner foods – nothing special, but nothing you want to miss out on. My personal favorite is a hamburger served with steak cut fries and a homemade chocolate shake. It always fills you up, and sometimes it’s even hard to eat all of the food.

Eating at the Choo Choo Grill gives you a warm satisfying feeling – the Choo Choo Grill feeling.
