What is your outlook on this season?

“I’m so excited for this season. We have a lot of girls who are all just so competitive and will do whatever [it takes] to win. Also, we have a lot of girls with different skill sets. We have a few girls who are incredible runners, a few really incredible posts, and some just overall aggressive players. We also have a lot of girls prepared to step into new roles this season so we’ll be a little bit of a deeper team than the previous season.”

What are some team goals for this season?

“We want to beat Northern — badly. Personally, I would love nothing more than to knock them out of districts if we were given the chance to play them during the MHSAA tournament.”

What are some personal goals for this season?

“I want to be more of a consistent verbal leader. I’m usually pretty loud, but sometimes I forget to talk so I want to make sure I’m more consistent overall when it comes to communication.”

What is your favorite part about being on your team?

“I absolutely love the people I work with because of basketball. We have such an incredible coaching staff and they push you to go above and beyond expectations just set in practice. I also play for my team. I’m really close with the rest of my teammates, and we all push each other to the best we can be. Basketball season is always such a blast for me, and I love being able to be with everyone all the time.”

What is your favorite memory from basketball at FHC?

“My favorite memory was beating Northern during the Gold Game. It was such an incredible game and Claire Baguley was just a beast that game. I’ll never forget running onto the court after she made those last free throws in the last second that made us win the game.”

What is the best part about playing basketball?

“The best part about playing my sports is the friendships that form. The other girls and I become attached at the hip during the season and we all grow really close. I owe so many of my friendships to basketball. It’s just so fun doing team dinners, sleepovers, camps, and bonding as a team.”

What is a quote that inspires you?

“Offense sells tickets but defence wins championships.”
