Girls varsity soccer opens season with a 2-0 win over East Kentwood

The FHC girls varsity soccer team opened its season with a bang, defeating the East Kentwood Falcons 2-0. The Rangers’ non-stop defense made the Falcons panic and give the ball away dozens of times throughout the game.

The Rangers had a quick start to the game when senior Rylee Hrnyak scored ten minutes into the first half from an amazing cross-field pass. After the goal, the Ranger defense continued to overwhelm the Falcons as FHC shutout EK and the teams went into halftime with a score of 1-0.

As the second half began, junior Grace Kline increased the Ranger lead and ultimately secured the victory with another goal. Grace’s goal was a beautiful shot right into the corner of the net. Once again in the second half the Ranger defense, led by senior Bree Probst, locked down the Falcons and didn’t let them past the defensive line to get a shot off.

The girls varsity soccer team will face the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles in its next game on Tuesday, April 10 at 6:15.
