Girls varsity lacrosse falls to rival EGR 9-5
More stories from Tommy Spaletto and Logan Thompson
After a long break from its first game, the Forest Hills girls lacrosse team fell to its rival the East Grand Rapids Pioneers by a score of 9-5 last night. FHE junior Erin Kloostra, FHN junior Molly Mullet, and FHC senior Kelli Bailey were key to contributing to a strong defensive performance from FH. Forest Hills is going to need to put this loss aside and focus on a very important game Friday, as to not go below .500 on the season.
Forest Hills scored a total of five goals by four players; FHE senior Josie Horlings scored 1 for the team along with Erin Kloostra. FHN junior Kay Zubkus also put a point on the board for Forest Hills and to round it out, Kelli Bailey also put 2 points up. Forest Hills opened with a strong first half despite being down with a score of 5-2. The girls lost that feeling as the second half went on due to a large number of turnovers having a large effect on this loss.
Despite this difficult loss to EGR, the girls look ahead to their next game this upcoming Friday against the Grand Haven Buccaneers on the road. Forest Hills needs to carry the mentality they did to open the season against Dewitt into every game in order to get back on a winning streak. With a 1-1 start to the season, FH girls lacrosse begins the season hopeful.
