Humans of FHC: Ashley Jenkins

“I’m going to Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. It was really hard for me to make a decision. I was between somewhere close and somewhere far, and I think that [Point Loma] offers me something totally different. If you’re having a really hard time deciding, it helps to think of the positive and the negatives. I was like, ‘I’m just going to take a chance.’ This is the one time in your life you can really do something like this and just go for it.

I feel like this is the perfect time in my life to take a chance and kind of get out of my comfort zone and go somewhere new. It’s totally a new place, and [there are] so many amazing things to do there, so it’s really awesome. Also, my sister really pushed me a lot. She really wanted me to go where she goes to college. She was really trying to convince me. I’m really excited but I’m also kind of nervous, to be honest. I think that I will [miss my family], but it’ll really help having my sister there.  But I’m also kind of nervous because I don’t know any [freshman] going there. That’s a little bit scary. I’m excited to get to a new place, and [there are] a lot of new opportunities and experiences there.”
