Boys varsity tennis falls to FHN 9-0
The FHC boys varsity tennis team faced FHN in Wednesday’s head-to-head meet. The Rangers fell just short in each match, losing the third set to the Huskies. They ultimately couldn’t outscore the cross-town rival and lost the match 9-0.
Sophomore Chris Battiste and junior Advith Reddy were just shy of winning their match in 1 doubles. They lost their first set 3-6 but won their second set 6-4. They battled against the Huskies but eventually were defeated 4-6 in their final set. Junior Nicholas Sjolin also put up a fight, but he ended up losing both sets 6-1 and 6-0 in 1 singles. The rest of the team’s matches were very close, but they couldn’t find a way to win it in the third set.
This puts the Rangers’ record at 0-1. FHC will play in the Gross Point North tournament in Detroit on Saturday. The tournament consists of Dow, Seahomes, Flushings, the University of Detroit Jesuit and other schools, which are some of the Rangers’ toughest competition. Last year FHC won the tournament and they are hoping to do the same this time around.
