Girls JV volleyball slams Ottawa Hills 2-0
On Thursday, the girls JV volleyball team beat Ottawa Hills once again. The Rangers had a unique game; they were able to play all different positions and get a feel for the court. FHC took advantage of the slower game and learned some new key skills. They also practiced their new plays against the Bengals and came the Rangers were able to win the match 2-0.
At the beginning of the game, the Rangers dominated the Bengals and started off with great momentum. Sophomores Cora Kelly and Katie Costello worked as a power duo in the first set. Katie would create great sets that were then hit by Cora. Freshman Remmie Ingrahm also was a key spiker. Her hits were fast and hard and really kept the energy up in the first set. FHC ended up winning the first set 25-9.
In the second set, the Rangers were able to switch positions and try out different areas on the court. Sophomore Lilly VanSkiver is typically in the front line ready to hit the ball, but on Thursday she was able to move into the back and help dig. She was very successful in her digs and helped keep the gap in the score stay the same. The Rangers ended up winning the game 25-12.
This wins puts the Rangers’ OK White Conference record at 3-1, only losing to the Huskies of FHN. The Rangers are going to try to keep their winning streak alive when they face off in the Rockford Power League on Saturday.
