Girls JV volleyball team wins against Lowell 2-0
The girls JV volleyball team played against the Red Arrows of Lowell earlier in the season in the Hudsonville Invitational. FHC and the Red Arrows had a back-and-forth game in the Invitational. Lowell won the first set 25-23. In the second set, however, it was very close and the Red Arrows fell 24-20. In the end, FHC was able to pull through and beat the Red Arrows 26-24. This time around, FHC was able to dominate against them and win 2-0.
FHC had high energy throughout the whole match. The Red Arrows’ points were mostly from the Rangers’ mistakes. FHC won the first set 25-6 and the second set 25-7. The Rangers were able to run many new plays and switch things up a little bit. Instead of the front row hitting the ball and blocking, the back row was able to. FHC was also able to try out new plays that they haven’t been able to run before. Sophomores Emma Lohr and Katie Costello helped contribute to the Ranger win. Emma was able to hit the ball for a point after Katie set her up perfectly. They worked as a power duo that dominated the floor. Sophomore Cora Kelly also contributed greatly, as she was able to block many of the Red Arrows’ hits. In general, the Rangers played cohesively in order to get the win.
This win puts FHC’s OK White Conference record at 4-1, their only loss being to FHN. The Rangers do not have another game until Tuesday, which is against the Yellow Jackets of Greenville. FHC has a break in between games, and they are planning on practicing hard so they can keep their winning streak alive.
