JV football preview: Lowell Red Arrows
The Rangers are coming off a thunderous 48-14 victory over the Ottawa Hills Bengals last week. In week eight, the team will be looking to start the home stretch of the season off with a win against their vicious rival, the Lowell Red Arrows.
The Red Arrows and the Rangers sit together at the top of the OK White, each school with conference records of 3-1. Lowell has an overall record of 4-3, with two of their losses coming to tough non-conference opponents and one to Cedar Springs, just like the Rangers. These teams seem to be evenly-matched, as the scores were very similar when playing common opponents. Cedar Springs put up 48 points on Lowell and 44 on the Rangers, the Red Arrows gave up 20 to Ottawa Hills while the Rangers gave up 14, as well as both teams having one-score wins against Forest Hills Northern.
Lowell runs the zone-read offense through the shotgun, an offense that is run-heavy. Sophomore defensive linemen Aidan Paciorek, Mason Wiltz, and Jason Downey will be looking to stop the run game at the line of scrimmage backed up by sophomore linebackers Sawyer Bosch and Danny Dykstra.
The Rangers will be looking to continue their impressive run game against a Lowell defense that gives up a lot of points. Sophomores Maguire Mahacek and Sawyer Bosch will try to add more touchdowns to their impressive statistics against the rival Red Arrows on FHC’s home turf.
