Girls JV volleyball wins 2-0 over Cedar Springs to continue winning streak
At the beginning of the season, the girls JV volleyball team was able to dominate against Cedar Springs 25-14 in the first set and 25-9 in the second set. This time around, the Rangers were able to go 2-0 again but had a bit more of a struggle dominating the Red Hawks in the second set.
In the first set, the Rangers got right down to business. They played with an immense amount of energy and were ready for an easy win. FHC won the first set 25-9. The key players in the first game were sophomores Emma Lohr, Rachel Toole, and Lilly Vanskiver. Emma was able to have some striking hits that helped the game progress quicker. Rachel had some really good digs and she played with high energy. Lilly had some really good serves that struck through the Red Hawks and scored some key points.
In the second set, the Rangers weren’t as energetic as they were in the first game; they began to play down to Cedar Springs. During the second game, the Rangers got stuck on one server, but they were eventually able to move past it. In the end, the Rangers won the second game 25-21. Freshman Remmie Ingraham and sophomore Lily Campbell worked as a power duo in the second set, as Lilly would set Remmie up for powerful hits that were able to get the Rangers some more points.
Even though the Rangers did not excel in the second set, FHC was still a unified team that helped each other so they could win. This win puts the Rangers’ OK White conference record at 8-1. Next week Tuesday FHC will be facing off against Ottawa Hills and are expecting a less-intense game.
