Sport Cross Country
How did you get into running cross country?
“I started in sixth grade with Girls On The Run, not really for the running but to be with my friends. I ended up having a lot of fun so I kept going.”
Why do you run cross country?
“I tried other sports when I was little, and I am not super coordinated. I can’t really catch a ball or kick anything. So cross country was kind of a last resort for me, but I ended up really liking the team and the sport.”
What is your favorite memory from this past season?
“There was one really rainy day at practice, and all the other teams’ [practices] were canceled. We had a really fun practice that day and jumped in all the puddles after running and we were soaked.”
Did you have any personal goals for this season?
“I really wanted to get my personal record this season. I didn’t get it, but I got really close to breaking twenty minutes.”
What is the hardest part about cross country?
“The physical part is definitely really challenging, but the mental part is even more [challenging]. If you’re not mentally 100% then you can’t push yourself.”
