Cross country ends the season at States

In their final race of the season, the Rangers boys cross country team competed in the 2018 MHSAA Division 1 State Races. Alongside them, representing the girls team, was sophomore Whitney Currie. She was the only girl to qualify for the meet from her team. Whitney finished in 118th place with a time of 19:47.3.

Given the rigorous racing conditions, the team knew they had to run better than ever to place well. They put forth maximum effort but unfortunately were outran by the very difficult competition. Senior Geoffrey Batterbee crossed the finish line first for the team in 89th place and finished with a time of 16:47.9. Next up representing the team was junior Gabe Carlson; Gabe finished in 93rd place with a final time of 16:49.1. The final racer to finish in the top 150 for the Rangers was freshman Sam Yeager. Sam finished the race in 142nd place and concluded his freshman year with a very impressive time of 17:05.4.

The end of this race marks the end of the 2018 cross country season; the young team did well and is looking promising for seasons to come.
