How long have you bowled?
“This is my first year bowling at the school, but everyone in my family is a big bowler, so I have bowled for a couple years. During freshman year, I did a lot of at-home bowling, so I’ve done it consistently for the past year and a half.”
What are you most excited for this season?
“I’m most excited to see my teammates improve their scores and get better at the game. I also want to see myself get better at the game and help out the team.”
What is special about being on the bowling team?
“It’s cool because it’s an individual sport, but at the same time [it’s] a team sport. When you’re up [bowling,] it’s just you, but after you bowl, you’re welcomed back graciously by your teammates. It’s half and half. You practice as a team and your teammates help you, but at the end of the day, you are bowling by yourself. I also like that age is completely out of the picture; you can be a freshman and score a 300 and be on the varsity team.”
What is the team looking to do this year?
“The JV team is really just looking to improve our game and watch the varsity guys. On the varsity side, the guys are looking to win every game and win a conference championship.”
What are some personal goals this year?
“My personal goal at the beginning of the season was to score a 150. Last week I broke 177, so now my goal for the remainder of the season is to score a 200.”
How did you get into joining the bowling team?
“A couple of my friends said they needed some guys on the team, so I came out to the team. I thought, ‘Why not?’ My grandpa bowls and my dad bowls, so I took the opportunity.”
