Ski team has a successful weekend at the annual Caberfae Races

The Forest Hills Central ski team prevailed at this weekend’s Caberfae races. These races are some of the biggest of the year for the team, and the Rangers did not let that stop them. The girls team was able to successfully place first overall as a team, and the boys team ended in seventh place.

In the Slalom races, the girls team had three girls place in the top twenty. Of them was senior Courtney McAlindon and her sister, sophomore Abby McAlindon. Courtney took second in the race, and her two races added up to a time of 48.56. Abby took fourth place in the race and had a final time of 52.09. Along with them was senior Grace Kline, who placed twentieth overall. Grace finished with her first race clocking in at 30.14 and her second race at 28.90.

The girls team also competed in the Giant Slalom races, and this time it had four skiers place in the top fifteen. Both Courtney and Abby placed very well in these races as well; Courtney took first and Abby took fifth. Courtney’s first race ran for 31.23 seconds, and her second race went for 30.69 seconds. For Abby, her final time between the two races clocked in at 1:04.15 minutes. Placing in between the two McAlindon sisters was senior Kayley Reynolds, who took second place in the Giant Slalom. The last girl to place in the top fifteen was Grace, who placed twelfth; her first race was 34.19 seconds, and her second one was 32.72 seconds.

For the boys team in the Giant Slalom, only three racers were able to place in the top thirty: junior Sam Werkema, senior Nathan Jenkins, and senior Noah Stout. Nathan crossed the line next in twenty-seventh place with his first race clocking in at 35.78 seconds and his second at 35.10 seconds. Lastly, Noah took thirtieth place and had a final racing time of 1:12.49 minutes.

In the boys Slalom, the team did much better. Even though the Rangers still had three boys place in the top thirty, they placed higher and improved their times. Leading the team this time was Nathan, who took ninth in this race; his final time came in at 51.83 seconds. Following right behind him was Sam in tenth place.
