Girls ski dominates at Regional races, advances to States
The Forest Central girls ski team had a very successful night on the slopes while competing in the Regional races. The Lady Rangers secured first place in not only the Giant Slalom races (GS) but in the Slalom races (SL) as well.
Senior Courtney McAlindon, once again, led the team throughout the night. Her first-place victories in both of the races were key for the Rangers’ victory. Courtney raced in the SL with a time of 1:04.21 minutes and had a time of 55.28 seconds in the GS. Another senior, Kayley Reynolds, also had a phenomenal performance last night, and she was the second-highest racer of the night; she placed fourth in the SL and third in the GS. In Kayley’s GS races she clocked in at 55.62 seconds, and in her SL races she clocked in with a time of 1:07.43. The last Ranger to place in the top fifteen in both of the races was sophomore Abby McAlindon. Abby had a very successful night to place eleventh in the SL and ninth in the GS. Her final SL time was 1:11.14 minutes, and her final GS time was 57.98 seconds.
The Rangers will be competing in the Michigan Division 2 Championship races this Saturday, Feb. 23. Last year, the Rangers only had a few girls qualify for States, but the whole team will be attending this year.
