Girls varsity water polo picks up second win of the season at this weekend’s tournament
This past weekend the Forest Hills United varsity water polo team took on several top teams in its tournament at Jenison High School. The outcome may have not been what FH had wanted, but the girls did end up bringing home their second win of the season against Zeeland. With the end of the tournament, the team now extends its record to 2-10.
On Friday, the team took on the powerhouse Rockford Rams and eventually fell to them 13-4. However, despite the loss, the team had several players who had stellar performances. Forest Hills Northern sophomore Haley Mckee had 2 of the team’s 4 goals, and she won her sprint at the beginning of the game. Also from Forest Hills Northern, senior Madi Crookston had several amazing blocks as a goalie, and without her, the score would have been much higher. Senior Seline Franovic, from Forest Hills Central, was the other player to score during the game, as she had the 2 other goals.
The team had three other games this weekend and went 1-2 in these. Its first game against the Hudsonville Eagles was not ideal, as the team went on to lose 13-1; the team’s only goal was scored by junior Haley Sincerbeaux. Later on that day, the team took on Zeeland and came out with its second win of the season with a score of 3-2. Selina, Haley, and junior Maggie Zorn were the players to score in that hard-fought game. Lastly, the team took on the Jenison Wildcats; sadly, the team fell to them once again with a score of 11-5.
The Forest Hills United varsity water polo team will take on the West Ottawa Panthers this Tuesday, April 16 on the road. The girls are looking to extend their record to 3-10.
