JV softball struggles against Northview, drops the series
With a cold offensive performance, the Rangers fell to Northview in the third matchup 12-2, losing the series to the Wildcats.
FHC totaled just 3 hits, as sophomore Bela Gonzalez and freshmen Georgia Alstadt and Hannah Pruski all went 1-2 at the plate. Freshmen Remmie Gavle and Alyssa Wierenga were able to put down a couple of bunts to advance runners, as the Rangers were able to push 2 runs across.
Alyssa started in the circle, and the Wildcats racked up 10 hits on her through five innings. Hannah came in as a reliever in the sixth, and she allowed 4 hits as well. The Ranger defense committed 2 errors in the game, and Northview was too hot at the plate for FHC to maintain control of the game.
FHC will look to flush this game in preparation for a conference doubleheader on the road on Monday with Cedar Springs. The girls will then complete the series with a single game on Wednesday, followed by another doubleheader on Thursday against Unity Christian. The team’s depth will surely be tested in this intense stretch of games, and if the Rangers can keep the bats hot, they should have a good chance at an undefeated week.
