Varsity softball sweeps Cedar Springs in final game of the series 16-3
Last night, the Lady Rangers accomplished their goal of a full sweep against Cedar Springs. The Rangers came into the game with high energy and scored in the first inning. With this high energy, FHC was able to beat the Red Hawks 16-3.
The Rangers started the game scoring right away. Sophomore Kylie Halverson started the game off with a double. Senior Molly Donovan then hit a hard ground ball and advanced to first, which allowed senior Tori MacLeod to single on a 0-2 count and drive home Kylie to score. Molly was then able to score because of a wild pitch. The Rangers started the game off with a lead that the Red Hawks couldn’t catch up to. FHC’s next spark was in the fifth inning; Tori, senior Lauren Mittlestadt, and junior Maizey Szczepanek all drove in runs.
Kylie led the team in hits. She doubled in the first, singled in the third, tripled in the fifth, singled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh. Maizey, Tori, and senior Emma Davis led the team in RBI’s with 3 each. Tori had an impressive night behind the mound, only allowing 3 runs on the night. She also struck out 4 batters and walked 1.
With this win, the Lady Rangers’ overall record is 6-4 and their OK White Conference record is 5-1. FHC will be facing off against Unity Christian in a doubleheader tonight at home.
