Why I Love Spring
Personally, this is my favorite time of the year because everything is turning over. The snow is gone, and hopefully will not come back. The spring wardrobe has been dug out of the back of the closet. And, one of my personal favorites, the trees are beginning to bud and everything is coming to life again. There are so many reasons to love spring and here are a few of my favorites.
- It is warm. For all Michiganders who are not the best of friends with the snow, that seems to inhabit our state for six of the twelve months of the year, like me, then this is a huge one. I love it because you are not reaching for a big, bulky winter coat and absolutely dreading going outside for anything. Although it can vary from the high 60’s to the low 90’s, if we are lucky, it is still one of the best times of the year. Not too hot and not too cold; it is just perfect.
- The days are longer. There is really no explanation for this one, besides getting to stay out later and the ability to spend more time outside soaking up the sun.
- Bonfires. These large fires hold a special place in my heart that can only be filled by the laughter of friends, taste of the golden s’more, and the smell of the bonfire smoke that overtakes anything you are wearing. They are an excuse to hang out and sit around the fire with your closest friends or make new ones.
- The happiness in the air. Throughout the spring time as everything is becoming new again, it just gives me an optimistic feeling. It makes me think “everything is going to be okay”. The birds are chirping, the squirrels are running throughout the trees, and everything has a happy go lucky feeling to it.
- And last, last but not least, color. During the winter, the sky is gray, the ground and grass is dead and brown and the trees look bleak and bare. But now, the flowers are beginning to bloom and nature is bursting at the seams with color.
These are all things that I think make spring the best time. Although some things may be more cliche than others, they all are included in what I think makes this time of the year the best and without them, nothing would be the same.
