Freshman goalie Charlie Mehney leads the boys JV lacrosse team to a victory over Northville
Freshman goalie Charlie Mehney led the boys JV lacrosse team to a 13-1 win against the Northville Mustangs with some spectacular saves all game long.
The game started out just as the Rangers had hoped with a quick goal from sophomore captain Collin Ward who was a key player for FHC. Right after the goal, sophomore Reid Davison won the faceoff, giving the Rangers an early advantage and the ball. Reid was phenomenal all game long and consistently gave Central the upper hand. The rest of the first half was a series of goals from freshmen Nathan Sargeant, Miles Duiven, and John Tomsheck. These three combined for most of the goals in this game and were crucial for the whole first half.
The second half started out slow for both sides, but eventually, the Rangers got it going. The backline, with the help from sophomores Sawyer Bosch and Deacon Lobdell, shut down the Mustangs in the first half and continued that into the second half. Along with them was Charlie, who had the game of his career with countless saves, giving the Rangers the late-season win. He held the opponent to zero goals until the final three minutes of the game when the Mustangs scored to prevent the shut out.
The Rangers now improve to 10-1 and 4-0 in the conference and face off at Rockford on Tuesday, May 7.
