Jurassic World Lacks Plot but Entertains
In today’s television effects sometimes surpass plots and that was the case in Jurassic World. The dinosaurs established in the film were complex and creative but the plot was simple and lacked sophistication. The film is action packed and keeps you entertained but lacks the emotional connection with the characters you hope for when watching a movie. While the original ,Jurassic Park. had both the connection and the entertainment.
Owen (Chris Pratt), a military trainer that interacts with the dinosaurs, works at Jurassic Park in Costa Rica. He works with the animals and watches over the park. When the genetically engineered Indominus Rex gets loose he sets out to try to catch the beast and try to keep people safe. Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), the luxury resorts manager, feels responsible and sets out to help as well as trying to find her lost nephews who are somewhere in the forest. The two set out to try and protect the tourists and bring the dinosaur in.
Despite using known actors like Chris Pratt the characters lacked personality and were unable to connect to the audience. This was mostly because the script lacked any connection with its audience. His individual performance was the bright star in the otherwise dull and sluggish acting. His character was an intense military hero that cared for the people in the resort but also wanted to save the animals and he executed both facets extremely well for what he was given.
The biggest disappointment with the movie was the ending. It was predictable and cliche and ended exactly like most other action movies. The hero fights to protect the girl in an action packed scene filled with blood, dirt, and if the hero’s lucky a kiss from the girl. At the end of the day, the hero saves the day and gets the girl in the process.
The most important reason for making a film is to entertain your audience and this film did that. I was completely engaged in the film despite the lack of character personality. After the movie I was surprised that I wanted to see more. Some aspects of the movie could have been improved but overall the movie did what a movie is supposed to and I’d watch it again in a heartbeat.
