Girls swim team secures second place in Zeeland sprint meet
The girls swim and dive team had a solid showing in a sprint meet in Zeeland, placing second out of three teams. Zeeland took the win while FHC bested Forest Hills Northern/Eastern. This is the second meet of the year and is setting the team up for its first head to head.
The team placed second in the 200-yard free relay, the 200-yard medley relay, and the 100-yard free relay. A standout performance was Sarah Schenck swimming in the 100-yard individual medley and the 50-yard fly. She got first place in both races, defeating Zeeland’s swimmer by just .o2 seconds in the 100-yard individual medley. Other impressive performances include the 50-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard backstroke. Jessica Doyel got second in the 50-yard breaststroke, losing by .3 seconds, while Olivia Hooper got second in the 50-meter backstroke, losing by just .01 seconds. These were solid performances in a tough meet.
Continuing on with the pre-conference part of the season, the team will be entering its first head-to-head meet against the Rockford Rams at home. This will be a challenge, but the team is ready to go after some momentum-building meets.
