Boys varsity tennis ties for second in Grosse Point North Invite

The Rangers went to the Grosse Point North Invite on Saturday and destroyed some of the best teams in the area by double digits. FHC ended with a total of 18 points, which allowed them to tie for second against some top-ranked teams.

Some standouts for the day were two doubles senior Advith Reddy and junior Chris Battiste. They have been a key part to the team’s success thus far and won three matches to win their flight today. Another big contributor was the lethal combo of juniors Ben Koning and Nick Stockeauer. The two have been dominating all year long in four doubles and pulled out a great win against Detroit Jesuit in the semi-finals. Later in the day, however, the duo fell to a tough Seaholm team 6-0 in both games.

Freshman Sammy Yin had a very impressive day as he also went 2-1 against some very talented two singles players from Grosse Point North, Detroit Jesuit, and Midland HH Dow. One singles senior Nick Sjolin had been a leader all year and pulled out a 2-1 record at the end of the day.

The Rangers are cruising through the season and will need to continue their impressive runs if they want to continue more in the postseason. Their next match is at Northview on Tuesday, September 10 at 4:15.
