Varsity volleyball beats FHN Huskies for a second time this season

On Thursday night, the girls varsity volleyball team took on the FHN Huskies in a crosstown rivalry game on the Rangers’ home court. The Rangers showed their dominance very quickly and won the game in three sets with a final score of 3-0.

The first set concluded with a score of 25-15 in favor of the Rangers. This quick win in the first set was followed by yet another victory in the second set, as FHC went on to dominate with a score of 25-20. As the last set was underway, the Huskies had a small comeback; however, they still fell short, and the Rangers won the last set 25-21.

Junior Julia Bouma was a key player in the Rangers win, helping control the floor on both the offensive and defensive side of the game. Julia, the FHC libero, was able to get multiple digs off of the Huskies serves. The team benefited off these digs and was able to score several points from them. Another Ranger whose evident contribution affected the Rangers win was senior captain Lauren Schofield. Lauren’s kills as an outside hitter earned the Rangers much-needed points, and her services from the back row were on point throughout the game.

The varsity girls volleyball team will play again this Tuesday, September 24 against the Ottawa Hills Bengals. The game will be held on the road on the Bengals’ home court at 7:00 pm.
