Varsity girls field hockey suffers tough losses to EGR and Ann Arbor Pioneer
The varsity Forest Hills field hockey girls continued the search for success when they took on East Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor Pioneer High School on Thursday, who are some of the bests teams in the state. Both games came with speed and intensity from Forest Hills; however, the FH girls lost 6-0 against Ann Arbor Pioneer and 2-1 against East Grand Rapids. FHC junior Laura Balanda was able to put one goal on the board during the first half of the game against EGR, which helped FH stay motivated and optimistic throughout the rest of the game.
“Julia Brown kept playing hard on defense, despite Pioneer scoring several goals,” FHC senior Megan Raisch said. “She really helped us stay positive, as well as keeping Pioneer to only a 6 goal lead.”
The Forest Hills girls are now 1-7 on the season. Their next game will be taking place this Saturday and will be away against Detroit Country Day. “We are a very young team this year,” head coach Andrea Shaner said. “We will continue to take each game one at a time and focus on the little things.”
