Girls swim and dive loses to East Grand Rapids 103-76
Girls varsity swim and dive lost a tough one this meet, with EGR winning all but two of the events and outscoring the Rangers by 27 points. This is just their second loss this season in dual meets, with the first being against Rockford.
The meet started off with the 200-yard medley relay. The Rangers lost to EGR by just o.6 seconds, barely missing the mark. After that, the Pioneers won the next 8 races, destroying the hopes of a win for the Rangers. Junior Olivia Hooper broke their streak by securing first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.61, beating EGR’s time by 2.2 seconds. Senior Jessica Doyel followed this up with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke. Despite EGR exhibitioning off the rest of their swimmers in the event, her time 1:11.05 beat even the exhibition times. These two wins were followed up by a win by the Rangers, but only after the exhibitioning of the Pioneers’ A and B relay teams.
This concluded a rough meet for the Rangers, breaking up a string of conference wins in dual meets. The next meet for the Rangers will be the MISCA meet invitational meet, which is scheduled for October 12 at Calvin College. This meet will be a great opportunity for swimmers to show their speed against some very fast competition.
