FHC cross country teams take 2nd and 3rd at the last conference race

In Wednesday night’s bitter temperatures, the FHC cross country teams ran in their third and final conference race of the season. The course was muddy from all of the rain, but since it is a very flat course, the runners were still able to put forth a great effort. The girls team took second out of six teams, and the boys team took third.

Junior Whitney Currie took fourth place out of 106 runners, coming in with a time of 19:25.13. This time, along with her other placings, allowed her to achieve an All-Conference spot. The second-best runner for FHC was senior Nicole Marco, finishing with a time of 20:27.60, also securing an All-Conference spot. Trailing behind Nicole was senior Chloe Zeien, who finished with a time of 20:49.53. Then, only one second behind Chloe was senior Ally Francisco at 20:50.45, also receiving All-Conference honors.

For the boys, senior Gabe Carlson finished in third place, coming in with a time of 16:32.57, getting All-Conference for the boys. Sophomore Sam Yeager also took an All-Conference spot, coming in at 17:09.45. Junior Kyle James-Heer finished only 5 seconds behind Sam, coming in at 17:14.97, also taking All-Conference.

The next race for FHC is on Saturday, October 26th at the MHSAA State Finals. The times for these races are TBA, so be sure to check back for updates.
