FHC’s Competitive Cheer team finished on a high note at St. John’s High School on Friday in the district round, but they did not move on to the Regional round of the bracket as they fell just short of earning a trip to their Regional matchup.
The Rangers came into their district round with confidence after taking first place at the Comstock Park invite this past Tuesday.
“We beat all the teams we set out to beat,” junior Lydia Vanderiet said, “We ended on a high note, but that wasn’t enough to lead us to regionals.”
The Rangers looked to come into round 1 with their bar set high for a good score, and they did just that. They scored a 207.5 and had a lot of confidence going into round 2. Round 2 wasn’t the turnout the Rangers wanted, as they scored a 186.26. As they went into round 3, they wanted to end on a high note with hopes of making it into the regional round. They scored the highest they have all season in round 3 with a score of 286.1, but it wasn’t enough to lead them to the promised land as they fell short of making it to regionals.
“We ended on a high note, and that is good for going into next season,” Lydia said.
